Papel de la inflamación en la asociación entre obesidad y cáncer. Principales factores implicados

[spa] En la actualidad, la obesidad y el cáncer son dos de las enfermedades con mayor prevalencia y que más preocupan a la población en general. Son numerosos los estudios que proponen una relación entre el mayor índice de masa corporal y un mayor riesgo de padecer determinados tipos de cáncer. Parece ser que es la inflamación crónica, que se produce durante la obesidad, uno de los mecanismos encargados de establecer esta conexión. En este trabajo, se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica de las evidencias existentes sobre los diferentes mecanismos que enlazan esta triple relación entre obesidad, inflamación y cáncer, haciendo especial hincapié en el papel que presentan las principales citoquinas implicadas y cómo confluyen todos estos mecanismos en el cáncer de mama, colorrectal y hepático, que son los tipos de los que más se conoce la relación. Para ello, se ha hecho uso de varias fuentes bibliográficas, como la base de datos de PubMed del NCBI, el servicio de biblioteca de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares, Google Books y Google scholar, así como de una serie de páginas web de diferentes instituciones.

[eng] Nowadays, obesity and cancer are two of the most prevalence and worry diseases within the general population. There are numerous studies, which propose a relation between the higher body mass index and an increased risk of certain types of cancer. Indeed, it seems like the chronic inflammation, which occurs during obesity, is one of the mechanisms responsible for establishing this connection. For this document, a bibliographic research has been made to look for the evidences about the different mechanisms that link the triple relation between obesity, inflammation, and cancer. The role of the implicated cytokines and their functions inside the breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and hepatic cancer are the main point in this document due to the known relation between them. To get all the information, the bibliographical sources consulted were: NCBI PubMed database, library service of the University of the Balearic Islands, Google Books, and Google Scholar. Furthermore, some websites from different institutions, which are related to this topic, were used.
