Reivindicando el pasado de la almendra balear y las posibles sinergías entre agricultura y turismo

Abstract

[spa] Se aborda la evolución del cultivo del almendro en Baleares desde la perspectiva histórica: siglos XIX-XXI. El objetivo es doble. Por un lado, poner de manifiesto el pionerismo del cultivo en las islas dentro del contexto mediterráneo español y, por otra parte, establecer la progresiva pérdida de importancia desde la década de 1950-60; precisamente en el momento en que se deja atrás el modelo económico basado en la agricultura y empieza el desarrollo del turismo de masas. De todos modos, se establece el mantenimiento de la superficie cultivada hasta prácticamente el año 2016 y se defiende la importancia histórica de este cultivo para intentar buscar sinergias entre el sector agrario y el turístico. Se exponen experiencias similares en otras regiones (el valle del Jerte con el cerezo) y se pone en valor el pionerismo de la experiencia del perfume “Flor d’Ametler” que surgió en Mallorca en la década de 1930.

[eng] The evolution of almond cultivation in the Balearic Islands is approached from the historical perspective: 19th-21st centuries. The objective is double. On the one hand, highlight the pioneers of culture on the islands within the Spanish Mediterranean context and, on the other hand, establish the progressive loss of importance since the 1950s-60s; Precisely at the moment when the economic model based on agriculture is left behind and the development of mass tourism begins.
