¿Cómo mejoran las manipulaciones torácicas el dolor a corto plazo en pacientes con dolor de hombro?

[spa] Contexto: El dolor de hombro inespecífico es la tercera patología musculoesquelética con más incidencia de la población y con altas tasas de prevalencia. Una de las técnicas usadas para tratar esta patología es la manipulación torácica, aunque hay mucha controversia sobre su eficacia. Objetivo: Investigar si el uso de técnicas manipulativas en la zona cervicotorácica son adecuadas para reducir el dolor a corto plazo. Métodos: Se ha realizado una revisión en las bases de datos Medline y PEDro de los últimos 10 años. Resultados: 19 artículos han sido incluidos tras la selección de 304 artículos encontrados. Conclusión: Parece ser, que la STM incluida en los tratamientos habituales convencionales, juga algún papel en la mejora del dolor, la función de hombro y en las percepciones de mejora de los pacientes. El trabajo realizado, no permite demostrar evidencia del tratamiento con un nivel de significación estadística suficiente para poder recomendar el uso de la técnica para tratar este tipo de patologías, al menos no como único tratamiento.

[eng] Context: Nonspecific shoulder pain is the third musculoskeletal pathology with the highest incidence in the population with high prevalence rates. One of the techniques used to treat this pathology is thoracic manipulation, although there is much controversy about its effectiveness. Objective: Investigate if the use of manipulative techniques in the cervicothoracic area to reduce pain in the short term.
