¿El uso de anticonceptivos orales presenta alguna relación con la prevalencia de lesiones ligamentosas?

[spa] Antecedentes: Cada vez más mujeres hacen uso de los anticonceptivos orales (ACO’s). Se sabe que los ACO’s tienen efectos sobre los ligamentos por lo que se estudiará que relación tiene con la prevalencia de lesiones de dicho tejido. Objetivo: El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer una revisión de la evidencia científica para evaluar la relación que presenta la toma de ACO’s con la prevalencia de lesiones ligamentosas en población normal. En forma de objetivo específico es evaluarlo en deportistas y comparar que tejidos ligamentosos tienen mayor prevalencia de lesión. Diseño: Trabajo de revisión de la literatura y actualización del conocimiento en un ámbito específico. Método: Se incluyeron 4 artículos recogidos en las bases de datos de Pubmed y EBSCOhost con un total de 67,967 sujetos. Los descriptores usados fueron Contraceptives, oral; Athletic Injuries/ Sports injuries; Ligaments; Wounds And Injuries. Resultados: Se encontraron artículos relacionando la toma de ACO’s con la prevalencia de lesión del ligamento cruzado anterior (LCA) y ligamento de tobillo (LT). Solo se encontraron resultados significativos en el LCA en población no deportista; RR 0,82 (95% IC; 0,75-0,91) en población de 15-19 años y 0,82 (95% IC; 0,75-0,90) en mujeres que toman ACO’s desde hace igual o más de un año. Conclusión: La literatura sugiere que puede existir una asociación entre la toma de ACO’s y la prevalencia de lesión del LCA, habiendo un factor protector. Más estudios son requeridos para evaluar dicha relación en otros ligamentos.

[eng] Background: Currently, more and more people are using oral contraceptives (OC’s). It’s known that the OC’s have effects on the ligaments, therefore this study will find the relation with the prevalence of injury of this kind of tissue. Objective: The objective of this work is to conduct a revision of the scientific evidence to for evaluating the relationship between the OC’s and the prevalence of injury of the ligaments. Then as a specific objective, we will evaluate it on athletes, and we will identify which ligaments are more prevalent to injury. Design: Revision of the literature and updating the knowledge of this specific branch. Methods: 4 studies were included using Pubmed and EBSCOhost with a total of 67,967 subjects. The descriptors that were used were: Contraceptives, oral; Athletic Injuries/ Sports injuries; Ligaments; Wounds And Injuries. Results: It was found articles demonstrating the evidence of the relationship of OC’s and the prevalence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and ankle ligaments (AL). There were only significant results on ACL with no athlete people; RR 0,82 (95% CI; 0,75-0,91) in people who were between 15-19 years old and 0,82 (95% CI; 0,75-0,90) in women who were taking OC’s since one or more years. Conclusion: The literature suggests that an association between the intake of OC’s and the prevalence of injury of ACL may exist, existing a protector factor. More studies are required to evaluate the association on other ligaments.
