[cat] Robert Louis Frank (Zúrich, Suïssa, 1924 – Inverness, Escòcia, 2019) fou un fotògraf que a l’any 1947 va emigrar als Estats Units, lloc on portaria a terme la major part de la seva producció. Entre 1955 i 1957 va viatjar pel país captant amb la seva càmera de 35mm com vivia la població. L’anàlisi realitzat el va publicar amb el títol de Les Americains, al 1958, a França, i The Americans, al 1959, als EEUU. El treball té la intenció de posar de manifest els motius de la realització de l’obra, les valoracions de la crítica i les contribucions que va aportar per la fotografia posterior.

Between 1955 and 1957 he traveled along the country capturing how the population lived with his 35mm camera. The analysis was published under the name Les Americains in 1958, in France, and under the name The Americans in 1959, in UUSS. The work is intended to highlight the reasons for the work to take place, the critical appraisals, and the contributions to photography in posterior times.
