Es una enfermedad crónica que causa grandes consecuencias negativas en el aspecto corporal de la mujer, pero también genere un gran impacto a nivel biológico, psicológico y social. Después del diagnóstico, la mujer se tiene que enfrentar a todas las consecuencias negativas de la propia cirugía, pero también del tratamiento. Por ello, es importante elegir un tipo de afrontamiento adecuado para que sea más optimo dicho proceso. Asimismo, estas consecuencias vienen acompañadas de los estereotipos creados por la sociedad sobre la belleza y el cuerpo perfecto. Este hecho produce una mayor gravedad de los síntomas previos, y surgen otros nuevo como insatisfacción corporal, menor autoestima y sentimientos de inferioridad. Por lo tanto, la sociedad ejercer una gran influencia en la forma de afrontar la enfermedad por parte de la mujer. Una solución adecuada seria empoderar a todas las mujeres, para que se sienten seguras de si mismas ante cualquier adversidad, y que puedan tomar sus propias decisiones basada en su salud antes que el aspecto físico.

It is a chronic disease that causes great negative consequences on the body aspect of women, but also generates a great impact at the biological, psychological and social levels. After the medical diagnostic, the woman has to face all the negative consequences of the surgery itself, but also of the treatment. For this reason, it is important to choose a suitable type of coping so that this process is more optimal. Also, these consequences are accompanied by the stereotypes created by society about beauty and the perfect body. This fact produces a greater severity of the previous symptoms, and new ones arise such as body dissatisfaction, lower self-esteem and feelings of inferiority. Therefore, society has a great influence on the way women face the disease. An appropriate solution would be to empower all women, so that they feel confident in any adversity, and that they can make their own decisions based on their health rather than physical appearance.
