L'escala pentatònica i el seu ús al jazz

Abstract

Aquest treball està dirigit a tots els músics interesats en l’escala pentatònica, la improvisació i el jazz, en ell hi trobarem informació històrica, teòrica i pràctica per poder improvisar en la música moderna i entendre la seva evolució, ens centrarem en l’estudi i anàlisi de l'escala pentatònica. Les escales pentatòniques són la base de simples melodies populars i ritmes infantils d’arreu del món. Llavors, com és que es poden utilitzar en el jazz i crear tants colors diferents, graus de tensió i dissonància?. Veurem el seu origen, la seva evolució, com es forma, les diferents pentatòniques possibles, com s'han utilitzat en progressions d’acords i en el blues. Amb l’estudi i l’anàlisi de melodies i improvisacions d’alguns dels músics més importants i representatius del jazz comprovarem que el seu ús ha format part de l’evolució del jazz. Per complementar aquesta informació, oferiré suggeriments pràctics de com i què estudiar per a l'aprenentatge de la improvisació en el llenguatge del Jazz. Com a treball dinàmic i social, faig referència a l’experiment “Hackrain Brain”, per comprovar si l’escala pentatònica està integrada en la societat de forma natural i ancestral. Els objectius principals del present treball són: coneixer l’origen i l’evolució de l'escala pentatònica, comprovar l’experiment Hackrain Brain, analitzar harmonicament l’ús de la pentatònica en el jazz, analitzar melodies i improvisacions, comprovar que tocant únicament aquesta escala podem tocar a sobre tots els acords i estils del jazz, i tenir una guía de com enfocar, preparar, treballar i desenvolupar les nostres ideas musicals per poder crear melodies i improvisacions pròpies. / This work is aimed at all musicians interested in the pentatonic scale, improvisation and jazz, in it we will find historical, theoretical and practical information to improvise in modern music and understand its evolution, we will focus on the study and pentatonic scale analysis. Pentatonic scales are the basis of simple folk melodies and children's rhythms from around the world. So how can they be used in jazz and create so many different colors, degrees of tension and dissonance?. We will see its origin, its evolution, how it is formed, the different possible pentatonics, how they have been used in chord progressions and in the blues. With the study and analysis of melodies and improvisations by some of the most important and representative musicians of jazz, we will see that their use has been part of the evolution of jazz. To complement this information, I will offer practical suggestions on how and what to study for learning improvisation in the language of Jazz. As a dynamic and social work, I refer to the "Hackrain Brain" experiment, to see if the pentatonic scale is integrated into society in a natural and ancestral way. The main objectives of this work are: to know the origin and evolution of the pentatonic scale, to check the Hackrain Brain experiment, to harmonize the use of pentatonic in jazz, to analyze melodies and improvisations, to check that playing only this scale we can play on all the chords and styles of jazz, and have a guide on how to approach, prepare, work and develop our musical ideas to create our own melodies and improvisations.
