El catarisme reduït a fum: origen, auge i extinció d'una heretgia medieval

[cat] Els càtars foren una heretgia medieval que es va estendre a l’Europa occidental de l’any 1000, amb especial implantació al Llenguadoc, en el Midi francès. D’essència cristiana, propugnaven un retorn a la vida apostòlica més autèntica a través d’una teologia dual i evangelista. Moltes comunitats cristianes, necessitades d’una religiositat més pura contraposada a l’opulència de Roma, acolliren el seu missatge humil. L’Església catòlica, davant el nombre creixent d’adeptes càtars que negaven la seva raó de ser, decideix llançar una croada l’any 1209. Les espases i el foc purgatiu acabarien amb l’heretgia. Mesclant-se raons polítiques sota pretexts religiosos, les aspiracions càtares acabarien essent aprofitades pels reis de França per dominar el sud del país i iniciar així la unitat nacional.

[eng] The Cathars were a medieval heresy that spread towards Western Europe in the year 1000, with a special presence in Languedoc, in the French Midi. Of christian essence, they advocated a return to a more authentic apostolic life through a dual and evangelical theology. Needing a purer religiosity as opposed to the opulence of Rome, its humble message permeated many Christian communities. The Catholic Church, faced with the growing number of Cathar adherents who denied their raison to exist, decided to launch a crusade in 1209. The swords and purgative fire would end the heresy. By mixing up political reasons under religious pretexts, the Cathar aspirations would end up being taken advantage of by the kings of France in order to dominate the south of the country and begin with national unity.
