Baleares en los inicios del turismo de masas (1955-1975)

Abstract

[esp] El objetivo del presente trabajo es ofrecer una descripción a grandes rasgos del fenómeno del turismo de masas en las Islas Baleares teniendo en cuenta la casuística especial que sufría España a la luz de la dictadura. También se menciona brevemente los actores que fueron clave en este despegue y la importancia del desarrollo de las principales infraestructuras que ha situado a Baleares en el mapa como principal destino turístico de sol y playa. Por último, se identifican los cambios demográficos y sociales que trajo consigo la actividad turística a las Baleares.

[eng] The aim of this paper is to offer a broad description of the phenomenon of mass tourism in the Balearic Islands taking into account the special casuistry that Spain suffered in the light of the dictatorship. It also briefly mentions the actors that were the key in this process and the importance of the development of the main infrastructures that has placed the Balearic Islands on the map as the main sun and beach tourist destination. Finally, it identifies the demographic and social changes brought about by the tourist activity in the Balearic Islands.
