dc.description.abstract [eng] SIRT3 has an important role in many malignancies, including the breast cancer. Due to its influence in key cell functions through the specific deacetylation of post-translational proteins, SIRT3 may have a main role in the outcome and the survival of breast cancer patients. The aim of this study was to identify SIRT3 targets and regulators through the Genecards and Pubmed databases to be analyzed with the Kaplan-Meier (KM) plotter software in a selected list of cancer subtypes and treatments to obtain a compilation of survival plots. The obtained results were selected and filtered to focus on the genes with significant and homogeneous results in all or most of the cancer subtypes. From all the identified genes, 12 may have an important role in the carcinogenic process in all the breast cancer subtypes analyzed. ACADL, ATP5A1, GLUD1, MED12, SOD2, TP53 and UCP1 genes expression was positively correlated with survival time but ATP5O, ATP5B, PPID, SDHA and HMGCS2 were negatively correlated with survival time with a high expression. Therefore, our results highlight how important and complex is mitochondrial function and integrity influence in many breast cancer subtypes. Despite the limitations of this study due to our selection and filtering, ATP synthase complex, the metabolic functions of SDHA and HMGCS2, the antioxidant activities of GLUD1, SOD2 and UCP1 and the oncogene-pathway between PPID and TP53 could be an interesting focus for future research and treatments. ca
