Uso del aceite de oliva para la prevención de las úlceras por presión

Abstract

[spa] Las úlceras por presión (UPP) se establecen como un reto dentro del sistema sanitario debido a las repercusiones que éstas tienen no solo sobre la salud y calidad de vida de los pacientes, sino también sobre la inversión económica anual del sistema sanitario público. La presente revisión de la literatura pretende conocer la eficacia del aceite de oliva en la prevención de las UPP respecto a otros tratamientos. Además, se pretende comparar su eficacia con la de otros agentes tópicos. Se buscaron estudios en las diferentes bases de datos, obteniendo un total de 194 artículos los cuales, tras aplicar los criterios de exclusión, se redujeron a 30. La evidencia obtenida manifiesta la eficacia del uso del aceite de oliva en la prevención de las UPP así como la importancia de aumentar su uso, tanto a nivel hospitalario como domiciliario, debido a la facilidad de acceso y la importante reducción de coste económico frente a otros agentes tópicos.

[eng] Pressure ulcers (PU) are established as a challenge within the health system due to the repercussions that they have not only on the health and quality of life of patients, but also on the annual economic investment of the public health system. The present review of the literature aims to know the efficacy of olive oil in the prevention of PU compared to other treatments. Furthermore, it is intended to compare its efficacy with other topical agents. Studies were searched in the different databases, obtaining a total of 194 articles which, after applying the exclusion criteria, were reduced to 30. The evidence obtained shows the effectiveness of the use of olive oil in the prevention of PU, as well as the importance of increasing its use, both at the hospital and at home, due to the ease of access and the significant reduction in economic cost versus other topical agents.
