Eficacia de la vacuna Gardasil 9 contra el virus del papiloma humano. Revelando datos

[spa] El virus del papiloma humano (VPH) representa una de las enfermedades de transmisión sexual más comunes, afectando a nivel mundial. Por lo general, provoca infecciones que suelen desaparecer después de un tiempo, aunque una pequeña proporción persiste y se acaba convirtiendo en diferentes tipos de lesiones e incluso en cáncer. Es un tema de implicación sanitaria, mediante cribados con citologías a las mujeres y mediante la vacunación de la población. Actualmente, existen tres tipos de vacunas comercializadas. Gardasil 9 es la más actual y contiene nueve tipos de VPH, está indicada para ambos sexos a partir de los 9 años. Debido al impacto que tiene este tema a nivel de salud, en este trabajo de revisión bibliográfica se evaluó la eficacia de la vacunación con Gardasil 9 respecto a la prevención del VPH y de sus enfermedades relacionadas. Para realizarlo, se llevó a cabo una búsqueda bibliográfica en diferentes bases de datos y metabuscadores (PubMed, BVS, EBSCOhost) con dos niveles de búsqueda y diferentes descriptores combinados con booleanos. Se obtuvieron 195 artículos de los cuales, tras el proceso de lectura crítica, se seleccionaron 23. Los resultados de los artículos eran bastante similares, con leves diferencias de unos a otros. En general, se vio que la vacuna tiene una alta eficacia para ambos sexos y en un amplio rango de edad, aunque ligeramente superior en aquellos más jóvenes. También, se concluye con que la vacuna provoca inmunidad, es segura y disminuye las tasas de verrugas anogenitales y cáncer de cuello uterino.

[eng] Human papillomavirus (HPV) represents one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, affecting the world. In general, it causes infections that usually disappear after a while, although a small proportion persists and eventually turns into different types of lesions and even cancer. It is a matter of health involvement, through cytology screening of women and through vaccination of the population. Currently, there are three types of vaccines marketed. Gardasil 9 is the most current and contains nine types of HPV, it is indicated for both sexes from the age of 9. Due to the health impact of this topic, this literature review work assessed the effectiveness of vaccination with Gardasil 9 in relation to the prevention of HPV and its related diseases. To do this, a bibliographic search was carried out in different databases and metasearch engines (PubMed, BVS, EBSCOhost) with two search levels and different descriptors combined with booleans. 195 articles were obtained which, after the critical reading process, 23 were selected. The results of the articles were quite similar, with slight differences from one to the other. In general, the vaccine was found to be highly effective for both sexes and in a wide age range, although slightly higher in those younger. Also, it is concluded that the vaccine causes immunity, is safe and reduces the rates of anogenital warts and uterine cervical cancer.
