[eng] At the end of 2019, a new disease called SARS-CoV-2, better known as COVID-19,
emerged in China, whose outcome has changed the world we were used to living in.
This virus caused a global pandemic where millions of people were affected by the
massive closure of businesses and cities, and whose outbreak caused thousands of
deaths and irreversible effects on a big part of the population. This article examines
the evolution of the pandemic in China, its place of origin, and analyzes how it has
affected the country, both economically and environmentally. As the work
progresses, the effects of the virus on health, its relationship with the environment
and the development of the Asian country will be explained, becoming China one of
the first countries to stop the spread of the virus. It will also explain the economic
effect that the closure of businesses and cities had for several months and the
measures that the government took to stop a trend of infections that did occur in
other parts of the world. Finally, there is a brief passage through the beginning of
2021 where the importance of the environment for the Chinese government is
analyzed, the priorities they have had during the months after the closure and the
expected progress in the coming years that was affected by the global pandemic.
