Covid-19 i l'overtourism en el nostre entorn

[cat] La transcendència de la COVID-19 al model turístic balear és incalculable. Les Illes Balears compten amb una indústria turística consolidada i madura, formada per una àmplia cadena de valor que implica tota l’economia illenca, fet pel qual l’arribada del virus xinès ha suposat tot un repte pel marc turístic balear. Tot i la resiliència que ja ha demostrat el turisme en altres ocasions, la globalitat de l’actual crisi i les restriccions internacionals de mobilitat, dificulten l’adaptació de la indústria. Per tant, durant el 2020 s’han observat unes dades mínimes històriques de viatgers, tant internacionalment com a Balears. A causa de la dependència de l’economia local en el turisme, la població també ha sofert severes conseqüències, entre elles, la reducció dràstica de les ofertes laborals degut a la baixa demanda de productes i serveis. A la vegada, el govern autonòmic i altres organismes competents, treballen constantment per pal·liar els efectes de la pandèmia, apostant en tot moment pel turisme segur i adaptant-lo a les condicions i restriccions vigents. Tot i això, s’ha pogut veure que el medi ambient i la biodiversitat, els quals han estat durant anys els ciments d’un turisme abusiu, han resultat els sistemes més afavorits davant la disminució del flux del turisme internacional.

[eng] The impact of Covid-19 to the balearic tourism model is immeasurable. The Balearic Islands has a consolidated and mature tourism industry, made up of a broad value chain that involves the entire balearic economy, so the arrival of the chinese virus has been a challenge for the balearic tourism framework. Despite of the resilience that tourism has already shown in other previous occasions, the global dimension of the current crisis and the international restrictions on mobility make it difficult for the industry to adapt. Therefore, during 2020 we have seen the lowest historical records historic of travelers, internationally as well as in the Balearic Islands. As a result of the dependence of the local economy on tourism, the population has also been severely affected, and job offers have been drastically reduced due to the low demand of products and services. At the same time, the balearic government and other competent entities continue to work to reduce the effects of the pandemic, focusing always on safe tourism and trying to adapt it to the current conditions and restrictions. However, we have been able to see that the environment and biodiversity, which for years have been the pillars of an abusive tourism, have been the most benefited systems in the decrease in the flow of international tourism.
