Chernóbil: motivaciones del turismo en lugares peligrosos

Abstract

[spa] 35 años después del accidente nuclear más significativo de la historia, Chernóbil se ha convertido en un destino turístico en tendencia. Aunque se trata de un lugar abierto al turismo desde hace tan solo una década, la Zona de Exclusión acoge a miles de visitantes cada año, especialmente desde el estreno de la serie Chernobyl, de HBO. Mediante este trabajo se pretende conocer las motivaciones que llevan a las personas a viajar a un lugar tan peligroso como Chernóbil, donde aún hoy en día perduran los efectos de la radiación. Después de recopilar la información disponible, se llega a la conclusión de que las motivaciones dependen de varios factores. Mientras los viajeros más jóvenes desean vivir nuevas experiencias y conocer los escenarios de las series más populares o los videojuegos más espeluznantes, los mayores pretenden rendir homenaje a las víctimas de la tragedia. Por otro lado, hay turistas que sienten curiosidad y buscan educarse respecto del accidente y otros más extremos aspiran a sentir el peligro de la radiación en primera persona.

[eng] 35 years after the most important nuclear accident in history, Chernobyl has become a trending tourist destination. Although this location has been opened to tourism for only a decade, the Exclusion Zone welcomes thousands of visitors every year, especially since the premiere of the HBO series Chernobyl. The aim of this report is to find out about the motivations that lead people to travel to a place as dangerous as Chernobyl, where the effects of radiation persist even nowadays. After gathering the available information, it is concluded that motivations depend on several factors. While the youngest travelers want to live new experiences and get to know the scenes of the most popular series or the scariest video games, the oldest ones want to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy. On the other hand, there are tourists who are curious and seek to educate themselves about the accident while more extreme ones aspire to feel the danger of radiation directly.
