La devoció als àngels i la seva incidència en la plàstica gòtica. La pintura del gòtic a Mallorca

[cat] El present treball pretén ser un estudi sobre la iconografia dels àngels, més concretament dels arcàngels i de l’Àngel Custodi, dins les obres pictòriques del gòtic de Mallorca. Aquestes dues iconografies han estat menys treballades respecte d’altres exemples com els àngels músics, ceroferaris o turiferaris i, per tant, s’intentarà donar més visibilitat i aprofundir en l’estudi d’aquestes representacions angèliques. Es treballaran els aspectes devocionals que expliquen la iconografia, la recepció a l’illa, el desenvolupament de la temàtica i com es plasma en la pintura dels segles XIV i XV a través de l’anàlisi dels retaules on apareixen. Les versions iconogràfiques i la ubicació dels arcàngels i de l’Àngel Custodi en aquestes estructures permeten obtenir conclusions sobre el seu paper en la pintura gòtica.

[eng] This essay pretends to be a research about angels’ iconography, in particular the archangels and the Guardian Angel, in the Gothic artworks in Majorca. These two iconographies have been less studied in comparison to other angelical representations such as musical angels or adoring angels with candles and incense. Therefore, I will try to raise awareness and go in depth in them. The research will delve into the devotional aspects that explain the iconography, its arrival to the island and its development, and lastly in which way it is captured on the painting from the 14th and 15th centuries through the analysis of the altarpieces in which they appear. The iconographic versions and the location of the archangels and the Guardian Angel on this structures allow to obtain conclusions of its role in the Gothic painting.
