Implicacions del creixement de la indústria turística a les Illes Balears

Abstract

[cat] Davant la crisi socioecològica actual, el creixement turístic es tradueix en un augment dels impactes negatius que pateixen les destinacions turistitzades degut al consum intensiu dels seus recursos i la pèrdua del valor ecològic dels espais naturals. Els ritmes del creixement turístic i l’expansió del turisme de masses han augmentat els conflictes generats per la saturació turística -o “overtourism”-, un fet que ha despertat malestar social a les destinacions turístiques. Des d'aquesta perspectiva, sectors privats, organitzacions internacionals i, fins i tot, destinacions turístiques han adoptat el concepte del turisme sostenible com un model referent per a satisfer els Objectius del Desenvolupament Sostenible (ODS). En aquest sentit, s’inclou a la discussió el plantejament del decreixement turístic basat en una crítica àmplia a l’imperatiu del creixement davant les limitacions dels recursos naturals de les destinacions turístiques.

[eng] Facing the current socio-ecological crisis, tourism growth marks an increase of negative impacts that tourist destinations suffer due to the intensive consumption of their natural resources and a loss of the ecological value of natural spaces. The pace of tourism growth and the expansion of mass tourism have increased the conflicts generated by overtourism, a fact that has aroused social unrest in tourist destinations. From this perspective, private sectors, international organizations and even tourism destinations have adopted the concept of sustainable tourism with a benchmark model to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from pro-growth policy measures. In this sense, the discussion includes the approach of tourism degrowth based on a broad critique of the imperative of growth facing the limitations of tourist destinations natural resources.
