Los efectos económicos de la actual pandemia en el sector turístico balear (2020)

Abstract

[spa] Debido a la gran dependencia e importancia del sector turístico en la economía española y, principalmente, en la economía balear, en este trabajo se analiza y explica la evolución del sector durante los años comprendidos entre el año 2015 y el 2020, ambos inclusive. También se comparan las tendencias entre la evolución del turismo en España y en las Islas Baleares. El objetivo principal es analizar y cuantificar el impacto económico de la pandemia sobre el turismo balear y el conjunto de su economía, en términos de empleo. Todo ello, mediante el análisis estadístico a partir de bases de datos oficiales estatales y autonómicas. Se obtienen como resultado de dicho análisis que la evolución del empleo balear, durante el año 2020, está altamente correlacionada con la evolución de variables epidemiológicas como la incidencia acumulada a 14 días/100.000 habitantes y los fallecidos por COVID-19, siendo esta última la causa principal de la variación del número de parados en el archipiélago balear.

[eng] Due to the strong dependence and importance of the tourism sector in the Spanish economy and, mainly, in the Balearic economy, this paper analyses and explains the evolution of the sector during the years between 2015 and 2020, inclusive. It also compares the trends between the evolution of tourism in Spain and in the Balearic Islands. The main objective is to analyse and quantify the economic impact of the pandemic on Balearic tourism and its economy as a whole, in terms of employment. All this, by means of statistical analysis based on official state and regional databases. The results of this analysis show that the evolution of Balearic employment, during the year 2020, is highly correlated with the evolution of epidemiological variables such as the cumulative incidence at 14 days/100,000 inhabitants and deaths due to COVID-19, the latter being the main cause of the variation in the number of unemployed in the Balearic archipelago.
