[eng] With a population of only 2000 people the village of Valldemossa is considered
to be one of the most visited and famous on the island. Valldemossa is the quiet
and traditional town with narrow streets and lanes constructed with blonde
stone, as are the houses. Each doorway and street are lined with beautiful
green plants and flowers making the town one of the most beautiful in Mallorca.
Many doorways of the houses feature a religious symbol of Valldemossa’s
patron saint, Saint Catalina Tomas to protect their houses from harm, a tradition
was set many years ago. The town itself is full of charming little streets filed with
cafes, galleries and giftshops. Valldemossa is surrounded by fertile land where
olive and almond trees are grown and this panorama has changed very little
since it was first inhabited till nowadays, despite the increase in tourism trade.
Guided cultural itinerary through the town of Valldemossa, the visit begins with
a walk through the streets of the town. First of all, we visit the house of Santa
Catalina Tomas, then we go up to the Charterhouse complex, where the piano
concert dedicated to Frederic Chopin is offered, then we visit the Palace of King Sancho. In front of the Palace we continue with a visit to the pharmacy of the
Carthusian monks and the Church after which we move on to cell number 2 and
cell number 4. And after them we visited the Municipal Museum. Leaving the
complex through the garden of the Charterhouse, we can go to the main street,
where we see the galleries of Coll Bordolet and Justart. After passing the first
part of the route, lunch is offered at the local restaurant, after which the bus
continues to the Sa Foradada de Son Marroig viewpoint, one of the most
beautiful places on the island, where you can see the steep cliffs of the west
coast, and the sunset.
The excursion is a full day and is intended for all lovers of history and music.
