El hospedaje en Baleares a principios del siglo XX. El caso de Menorca (1924)

Abstract

[spa] Con este trabajo final de grado lo que se pretende es hacer un análisis de la situación producida a principios del siglo XX en Menorca tanto a nivel social como demográfico para poder explicar los inicios del turismo en Menorca vinculándolo a los hechos históricos sucedidos en ese periodo. La motivación del estudio nace de la necesidad de explicar el lento desarrollo inicial de la industria turística en Menorca, muy diferente al auge y desenfreno producido en Mallorca e Ibiza a nivel turístico. En la actualidad el entramado de infraestructura turística de la isla es de una forma determinada por haberse producido estos acontecimientos en el inicio. Sin las sucesivas crisis de los otros factores productivos de la isla, sin el condicionante de las Guerras que paralizaron el desarrollo del momento, sin el empeño de algunos agentes promotores de la industria turística... Menorca no sería en la actualidad tal como la conocemos a nivel turístico.

[eng] This final degree project analyses the situation in Minorca at the early 20th century, both at social and demographic level, in order to explain the beginnings of tourism in the island. The motivation of the study arises from the need to explain the slow initial development of the tourist industry in Menorca, very different from the boom and debauchery produced in Mallorca and Ibiza at a tourist level. At present, the tourist infrastructure network of the island is in a certain way due to these events having taken place at the beginning. Without the successive crises of the other productive factors on the island, without the determining factors of the Wars that paralyzed the development of the moment, without the efforts of some promoters of the tourist industry... Menorca would not be as we know it today at the tourist level.
