Pérdida de dinamismo económico y turismo de masas en las islas Baleares: ¿Dos caras de la misma moneda?

[spa] Las Islas Baleares son un destino turístico popular especializado en el turismo de sol y playa que atrae a miles de visitantes cada año. Sin embargo, la dependencia de los ingresos de esta actividad económica ha hecho que se cuestione el dinamismo económico de la región en los últimos años. Por un lado, gracias al turismo se han obtenido ingresos que han permitido desarrollar las islas y mejorar la calidad de vida de sus habitantes. Por el contrario, el impacto de este sector ha traído consigo una gran preocupación ya que ha generado problemas socioeconómicos de manera directa e indirecta tales como el aumento de los precios, el incremento de la contaminación, la masificación turística... Estas consecuencias derivadas del turismo, y más particularmente del turismo de masas, han generado insatisfacción en la social balear que vemos reflejada con la extensión de movimientos “anti-tourists”. Ante esta situación planteamos la siguiente cuestión: ¿son los beneficios del turismo mayores a sus costes? Para responder a esa pregunta, analizaremos los hechos expuestos anteriormente y trataremos de mostrar las diferentes perspectivas desde los puntos de vista económico y social con el objetivo de averiguar si el turismo de masas provoca la pérdida de dinamismo de las Islas Baleares

[eng] The Balearic Islands are a popular tourist destination specialized in sun and beach tourism attracting thousands of visitors each year. However, the dependence on income from this economic activity has called into question the economic dynamism of the region in recent years. On the one hand, tourism has provided income that has allowed the development of the islands and improved the quality of life of their inhabitants. On the other hand, the impact of this sector has brought with it great concern as it has generated socio-economic problems directly and indirectly, such as price increases, increased pollution, tourist overcrowding, and so on. These consequences derived from tourism, and more particularly from mass tourism, have generated social dissatisfaction among the Balearic society, which we see reflected in the spread of "anti-tourist" movements. Faced with this situation, we pose the following question: are the benefits of tourism greater than its costs? To answer this question, we will analyze the facts mentioned above and try to show the different perspectives from the economic and social points of view with the objective to find out if mass tourism causes the loss of dynamism in the Balearic Islands.
