Escasez de mano de obra en el sector hotelero de Mallorca (2020 - Actualidad)

Abstract

[spa] Este trabajo se centra en la dificultad por parte de los hoteleros para encontrar mano de obra en el sector hotelero de la isla de Mallorca. A raíz de la pandemia, a los hoteleros de Mallorca les está costando encontrar mano de obra para las temporadas de verano. El objetivo es entender el porqué de esta problemática buscando la respuesta en el modelo productivo de esta isla y ofreciendo posibles soluciones para abordar esta problemática. Se hablará del modelo productivo de Baleares desde los inicios del turismo hasta la actualidad, del tipo de mano de obra que se requiere en el sector turístico, se expone la problemática que ha motivado el trabajo: la escasez de mano de obra en el sector, así como las causas del problema y las soluciones que los hoteleros mallorquines han propuesto, además de ofrecer recomendaciones adicionales como la diversificación del sector turístico.

[eng] This paper focuses on the difficulty for hoteliers to find labor in the hotel sector in Mallorca. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, hoteliers in the island are finding it difficult to find labour for the summer seasons. The aim is to understand the reasons for this problem, seeking the answer in the island’s production model and offering possible solutions to tackle this problem. The productive model of the Balearic Islands from the beginnings of tourism to the present day, the type of labour required in the tourism sector, the problem that has motivated the work: the shortage of labour in the sector, as well as the causes of the problem and the solutions that Mallorca’s hoteliers have proposed, as well as offering additional recommendations such as diversification of the tourism sector, will be discussed
