El paper del turisme en el desenvolupament del sector agroecològic

Abstract

[cat] Mallorca és un dels principals destins turístics a nivell mundial, i tot i que el turisme és el principal motor econòmic de l’illa, aquest genera impactes negatius de caràcter mediambiental, econòmic, social... i un dels sectors que està patint les conseqüències més severes és el sector primari. En el present treball s’analitza quin ha estat l’impacte del turisme en el sector agrari mallorquí, així com quin paper pot jugar el sector turístic en el desenvolupament sostenible del sector agroalimentari de Mallorca. En primer lloc, s’analitza el concepte de sostenibilitat, tant des del punt de vista del turisme com dels sistemes alimentaris. Posteriorment, s’estudia l’evolució del sistema agroalimentari mallorquí així com el paper que juga el turisme en el sector primari, i s’exposa una de les cooperacions més importants entre els dos sectors: el projecte d’economia circular de la cadena Garden Hotels. Es conclou que, tot i que el projecte de Garden Hotels és una passa important en la cooperació entre sector primari i sector turístic, aquest no és suficient i es requereix d’una major implicació del sector turístic per millorar la situació actual del sistema agroalimentari de l’illa.

[eng] Mallorca is one of the main tourist destinations in the world, and although tourism is the main economic engine of the island, it generates negative environmental, economic and social impacts... and one of the sectors that is suffering the most severe consequences is the primary sector. This thesis examines the impact of tourism on the Mallorcan agricultural sector, as well as the role that the tourism sector can play in the sustainable development of Mallorca's agri-food sector. Firstly, the concept of sustainability is analysed, both from the point of view of tourism and food systems. Next, the evolution of the Mallorcan agro-food system is studied, as well as the role played by tourism in the primary sector, and one of the most important cooperation projects between the two sectors is presented: the circular economy project of the Garden Hotels chain. It is concluded that, although the Garden Hotels project is a valuable step in the cooperation between the primary and tourism sectors, it is not enough, and a greater involvement of the tourism sector is required to improve the current situation of the island's agri-food system.
