[eng] The television series Game of Thrones (2011-2019) has captured the interest of viewers worldwide due to its portrayal of female characters, triggering numerous discussions from a feminist standpoint. This is the case of Sansa and Arya Stark, whose journeys throughout the show have been considered examples of female empowerment. The analysis, which will be informed by (post-)feminism, Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity, Carr’s concept of feminist empowerment, and Haggard and Chambon’s definition of agency, alongside the discussion, will reflect the differences between their journeys towards empowerment considering their feminist implications. Ultimately, the analysis conducted will contend that while both characters are empowered, Sansa could be read from a post-feminist standpoint while Arya would align more with feminist principles.
