Margalida Sintes Carbó: la seva implicació educativa i política a Mancor de la Vall

Abstract

[cat] Aquest treball presenta una aproximació a la biografia de Margalida Sintes i Carbó, exemple de la renovació educativa que es va donar a les Illes Balears a finals del S.XIX i primer terç del S.XX. També va col·laborar de manera activa en la consecució de la independència de Mancor de la Vall, on va exercir quasi tota la seva carrera com a docent. Va demostrar que ser una dona sense dret a vot, no li impediria assolir el que ella considerava just. Gràcies a la seva tasca, va aconseguir convertir-se en la primera dona en exercir el càrrec de regidora a l’Ajuntament del municipi. Així, aquest treball explora la seva trajectòria des de la formació de mestra, passant per la docència i acabat en el procés de indepencia del poble de Mancor de la Vall amb l’objectiu de realçar la seva memòria i aportant a la seva conservació.

[eng] This work presents an approach to the biography of Margalida Sintes i Carbó, an example of the educational renovation that took place in the Balearic Islands at the end of the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century. She also actively collaborated in the achievement of the independence of Mancor de la Vall, where she spent most of her career as a teacher. She demonstrated that being a woman without the right to vote would not prevent her from achieving what she considered to be just. Thanks to her work, she managed to become the first woman to hold the position of councillor in the town council of the municipality. Thus, this work explores her trajectory from her training as a teacher, through teaching and ending with the process of independence of the village of Mancor de la Vall with the aim of highlighting her memory and contributing to its preservation.
