L’ús del català entre els alumnes d’educació primària. Una investigació empírica

Abstract

[cat] El català és una llengua amb 10 milions de parlants i que gaudeix de l’estatus de cooficial a Espanya, juntament amb el gallec o el basc. Malgrat això, la seva presència és molt menor que la del castellà, i a l’escola el català de cada vegada és menys present a les interaccions entre els alumnes. Per això, s’ha duit a terme una recerca empírica en la qual han participat alumnes de Mallorca, mestres i una experta de la UIB, per conèixer de primera mà quina és la situació actual del català a les escoles de Mallorca, així com quins són els usos i actituds lingüístics dels alumnes en diferents àmbits. Aquesta recerca no ha fet més que confirmar les hipòtesis anteriorment exposades, i demostrar que l’entorn dels alumnes és el factor més rellevant quant al coneixement i l’ús del català, així com la seva actitud cap a aquesta llengua. I amb els resultats damunt la taula, podem afirmar que la situació és preocupant i que cal que es prenguin mesures, ja no només per part dels mestres a l’escola, sinó per part de tota la societat.

[eng] Catalan is a language with 10 million speakers that enjoys a co-officiality status in Spain, along with Galician and Basque. However, its presence is much lower than that of Spanish, and at school Catalan is less and less present in the interactions between students. For this reason, an empirical research has been carried out with the participation of students from Mallorca, teachers and an expert from the UIB, in order to know first-hand what the current situation of Catalan in the schools of Mallorca is, as well as what the linguistic uses and attitudes of the students in different fields are. This research has only confirmed the hypotheses previously exposed, and demonstrated that the students' environment is the most relevant factor affecting both the knowledge and the use of Catalan, so as their attitude towards this language. And with the results on the table, we can affirm that the situation is concerning and that measures need to be taken, not only by teachers at school, but by society as a whole.
