Relaciones entre trastornos de conducta alimentaria y consumo de alcohol: una revisión sistemàtica

[spa] Esta revisión sistemática se centra en investigar las relaciones entre los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (ED) i el trastorno por abuso de alcohol (AUD), dos problemas de salud mental altamente comórbidos y prevalentes en nuestra sociedad. Para ello se han utilizado 13 estudios publicados entre el año 2006 hasta la actualidad que abordan dicha problemática en diferentes poblaciones, con un principal enfoque en las mujeres. El objetivo es ofrecer una visión actualizada de la relación entre ambos trastornos en base al metaanálisis de Gadalla y Piran (2007). En ella se halló una relación positiva con trastornos de conducta alimentaria en 37 de los 41 estudios analizados, y sus conclusiones indican que las mujeres que presentan bulimia nerviosa (BN) tienen mayor relación con el trastorno por abuso de alcohol (AUD) a su vez que un incrementado riesgo de sufrirlo, seguido por trastorno por atracón (BED) y trastorno de alimentación no especificado (EDNOS). Por lo contrario, no se halló relación con la anorexia nerviosa (AN). En esta revisión se encontró una relación positiva entre ambos trastornos en todos los estudios analizados y las conclusiones coinciden con las de Gadalla y Piran (2007), mostrando como dicha asociación tiene su pico en mujeres con bulimia nerviosa (BN), seguido por trastorno por atracón (BED), trastorno de conducta alimentaria no especificado (EDNOS) y con relaciones no significativas halladas en la anorexia nerviosa (AN).

[eng] This systematic review focuses on the investigation of the relationships between eating disorders (ED) and alcohol use disorder (AUD), two mental health issues highly prevalent and comorbid in our society. For this purpose, 13 studies published between 2006 and the present were involved, exploring those issues in different populations with a mainly focus on women. The aim of this study is to provide an updated view of the relationship between these disorders taking as a referent the meta-analysis by Gadalla & Piran (2007). These authors found a positive relationship between eating disorders in 37 of the 41 studies analysed, and their conclusions indicate that women with bulimia nervosa (BN) have a greater relationship with alcohol use disorder (AUD) as well as an increased risk of developing it, followed by binge eating disorder (BED) and eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). Otherwise, no significant relation was found with anorexia nervosa (AN). This review found a positive relationship between both disorders in all the studies analysed, and the conclusions are consistent with those from Gadalla and Piran (2007), showing that relation peaks in women with bulimia nervosa, followed by binge eating disorder (BED), eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) as well without significant relations found in anorexia nervosa (AN).
