El saxofón en la orquesta

Abstract

[spa] El saxofón como parte de la orquesta es un tema de gran relevancia para los saxofonistas y un ámbito muy poco explorado. Este trabajo se centra en visibilizar la trayectoria del saxofón en la orquesta desde su creación hasta la mitad del siglo XX. Se examina la evolución del instrumento y su incorporación en la orquesta sinfónica. A su vez, se exponen en orden cronológico las aportaciones literarias más significativas para el saxofón en la orquesta y los diferentes usos que los compositores hacen del mismo para sus obras. La investigación se basa en un enfoque descriptivo y cualitativo. Se han realizado diversas entrevistas a directores de orquesta como Manel Valdivieso, Pablo Mielgo o Felipe Aguirre y a saxofonistas experimentados en repertorio orquestal como Miguel Ángel Lorente. Estas entrevistas han sido desarrolladas como complementación a la información obtenida de otras fuentes, tales como archivos de obras y libros relevantes para el mundo del saxofón. Los hallazgos revelan diversas técnicas y estilos de composición utilizados por compositores destacados para aprovechar las capacidades expresivas del saxofón en el contexto orquestal. Se profundiza desde las obras más cercanas a la creación del instrumento hasta el repertorio de mitades del siglo XX. También destacamos la aportación de material literario orquestal, incluyendo extractos de solos de saxofón en obras de carácter histórico para el instrumento, óperas y obras en las que, con el tiempo, el saxofón fue sustituido por diversas cuestiones. Este estudio aporta un análisis profundo sobre el saxofón desde su faceta orquestal, aportando fundamentos que marcaron la historia del instrumento, material explícito como entrevistas a figuras relevantes que respaldan el tema del trabajo, extractos de partituras orquestales y un seguimiento cronológico de la figura del saxofón como parte de la orquesta.

[eng] The saxophone as part of the orchestra is a subject of great relevance to saxophonists and a largely unexplored area. This work focuses on the development of the saxophone in the orchestra from its beginnings to the middle of the 20th century. The 20th century. The development of the instrument and its integration into the symphony orchestra are examined. In addition, the most important literary contributions to the saxophone in the orchestra are presented chronologically and the various ways in which composers use it in their works. The study is based on a descriptive and qualitative approach. Several interviews were conducted with orchestral conductors such as Manel Valdivieso, Pablo Mielgo or Felipe Aguirre and with experienced saxophonists in the orchestral repertoire such as Miguel Ángel Lorente. These interviews complement the information obtained from other sources such as work archives and important books for the saxophone world. The results reveal different compositional techniques and styles used by prominent composers to exploit the expressive possibilities of the saxophone in an orchestral context, from works closest to the instrument's origins to mid-20th century repertoire. We also highlight the contribution of orchestral literature, including excerpts of saxophone solos in historically significant works for the instrument, operas, and works in which the saxophone has been substituted for various reasons. This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the saxophone under its orchestral aspect. It offers foundations that have shaped the history of the instrument, explicit material such as interviews with relevant personalities that support the theme of the work, excerpts from orchestral scores and a chronological tracing of the role of the saxophone as part of the orchestra.
