¿Beneficia realmente el turismo de masas al residente balear?

Abstract

[spa] Este trabajo se centra en un análisis socioeconómico del impacto del turismo de masas en el bienestar de los residentes de las Islas Baleares. Si bien el turismo ha generado una correcta coyuntura económica en las décadas iniciales aportando riqueza y empleo a la región, con el paso de los años, el continuo crecimiento del sector empieza a generar ciertas debilidades en la economía. El turismo contribuye a más del 40% de la economía de las islas manteniendo a miles de familias, pero en los últimos años las externalidades y el deterioro económico empiezan a afectar directamente a estas mismas. Por ello, explicaremos como se ha revertido la situación desde el inicio hasta la actualidad, y mostraremos los datos económicos para poder entender mejor la realidad de la situación en la cual se encuentran las Islas Baleares.

[eng] This work focuses on a socioeconomic analysis of the impact of tourism on the welfare of residents of the Balearic Islands. Tourism has although generated a correct economic situation in the initial decades contributing wealth and employment to the region, over the years, the continuous growth of the sector begins to generate certain weaknesses in the economy. Tourism contributes to more than 40 per-cent of the island’s economy by supporting thousands of families, but in recent years externalities and economic decline have begun to affect them directly. Therefore, we will explain how the situation has been reversed from the beginning to the present, and we will show the economic data to better understand the reality of the situation in which the Balearic Islands are.
