A Case Study on Accessible Tourism via Mallorca’s Natural Resources: Design of a tourist route for mobility restricted tourists and its promotion channel

[eng] The concept of accessible tourism focuses on the provision of inclusive experiences for individuals with restricted physical mobility. Despite growing awareness, the tourism industry still faces significant challenges in providing adequate accessibility across transportation, accommodations, and tourist destinations. The lack of accessibility not only supposes an ignored market opportunity, but it also diminishes the quality of tourism products and destinations. While progress has been made, accessibility issues persist due to years of neglect and insufficient commitment to addressing them. This dissertation focuses on accessible tourism in Mallorca, Spain, aiming to devise an innovative accessible tourist route within its natural resources. Through the analysis of the current infrastructures, the engagement of key stakeholders, and the tourist route’s design and promotion, a comprehensive approach is proposed to promote sustainable tourism growth in Mallorca, and to position the island as a leading destination for accessible tourism.
