Impactos macroeconómicos del turismo

Abstract

[spa] El sector turístico ha tenido una gran importancia en el crecimiento económico español desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX hasta la actualidad, siendo de especial importancia su papel en el desarrollo económico de las Islas Baleares. El turismo balear ha supuesto un caso de éxito no cualificado llevando al archipiélago a desmarcarse como una de las regiones españolas más prósperas y ricas per cápita desde la década de los 50 hasta hoy. Si bien es cierto que el sector turístico ha sido una gran herramienta de desarrollo y crecimiento durante los últimos años, este parece presentar debilidades como motor de crecimiento a largo plazo. El presente trabajo académico pretende ofrecer una visión del impacto macroeconómico del turismo desde la perspectiva del crecimiento económico y, mediante modelos contables de crecimiento económico, identificar las causas que privan al sector turístico de ser un buen motor de desarrollo económico a largo plazo, introduciendo factores como la productividad, entendiendo qué importancia tiene en el crecimiento económico de las naciones y cómo se ve afectada por el sector turístico.

[eng] The tourism sector has played a significant role in Spanish economic growth from the second half of the 20th century to the present day, with its role in the economic development of the Balearic Islands being particularly noteworthy. Balearic tourism has been an unqualified success story, propelling the archipelago to distinguish itself as one of Spain's most prosperous and affluent regions per capita since the 1950s. While it is true that the tourism sector has been a significant tool for development and growth in recent years, it appears to present weaknesses as a long-term growth engine. This academic work aims to provide an insight into the macroeconomic impact of tourism from the perspective of economic growth. Through economic growth accounting models, it seeks to identify the factors that hinder the tourism sector from being a robust engine for long-term economic development. This includes introducing factors such as productivity and understanding their significance in the economic growth of nations, as well as how they are affected by the tourism sector.
