territori i cultura pròpies.
[eng] We know rondalles as these short and anonymous narrative texts written in prose, whose
main topic is usually fantasy, and that are generally passed on orally though generations. But
these types of creations aren’t unique from de Majorcan territory. We can find diferent
compilers all around Europe that have created a very similar literary work: the brothers Grimm,
Joan Amades, Enric Valor, or specifically in Majorca: Mossen Antoni Maria Alcover.
Nevertheless, rondalles do not draw the line at entertaining their públic, but they play other
educational roles: pass on values, actions and attitudes that will develop a child’s ability to
acquire critical thinking, as well as the ability to put down roots in a specific territory and
culture. These characters, who are suggested to the readers in symbolism so the public can
relate to them and internalize better the moral lesson that is being proposed, are brave, fair
rand hardworking, so the main focus is on the effort, braveness and justice that they evoke
and the evidence that we can find in the same rondalles. Then, we can’t deny its relationship
with education: not only is an essential tool that allows for great mainstream in the classroom,
but it is also a resource that allows us to put education with values into practice, that promotes
not only education in content, but also personal and emotional development.
