Concurs internacional de Guitarra Andrés Segovia

Abstract

[eng] This research work is dedicated to bringing to light a milestone of the history of the world guitar: the «Andrés Segovia» International Guitar Competition of Palma. It was held between 1975 and 1995 and was one of the most important guitar contests of the time, with more than half a thousand participants from all over the world. In this work you can find all the details concerning the contest: who organized it, when and where it was held, what were the winners and finalists of the contest and what has become of them, who was on the jury in the contest, what repertoire was played and many other issues. I would also briefly like to say who they were: Bernat Julià, the main organiser of the contest; Gabriel Estarellas, internationally renowned Majorcan guitarist and member of the organizing committee of the contest; and Andrés Segovia, the best-known classical guitarist of all time, who gave his name to the Palma competition. This competition was one before and one after in the career of many guitarists at a time when the guitar world was in full swing and became the most universal instrument. So here I tell you the story about an International Guitar Competition, held in Palma, of world popularity marked and sponsored by no less than the figure of Andrés Segovia. That this musical eminence gave its name to the contest, gave him great popularity worldwide. This resulted in participation in the contest of guitarists from countries around the world. From Japan to the United States and Canada, and almost all European countries and much of South America.

[cat] Aquest treball d’investigació està dedicat a treure a la llum una fita de la història de la guitarra mundial: el Concurs Internacional de Guitarra «Andrés Segovia» de Palma. Es va estar celebrant entre els anys 1975 i el 1995 i es tractà d’un dels concursos de guitarra més importants de l’època pel que hi van arribar a passar més de mig miler de guitarristes provinents de països d’arreu del món. A aquest treball podreu trobar tots els detalls referents al concurs: qui l’organitzava, quan i on es va celebrar, quins varen ser els guanyadors i finalistes del concurs i què s’ha fet d’ells, qui hi havia de jurat al concurs, quin repertori es tocava i moltes altres qüestions. També explic breument qui van ser: Bernat Julià, el principal organitzador del concurs; Gabriel Estarellas, guitarrista mallorquí de renom internacional i membre de la comissió organitzadora del concurs; i Andrés Segovia, el guitarrista clàssic més conegut de tots els temps, que va acollir amb el seu nom al concurs de Palma. Aquest concurs va suposar un abans i un després en la carrera de molts guitarristes en uns temps en que el món de la guitarra estava en plena efervescència i es convertia en l’instrument més universal. Així doncs, venc a contar la història sobre un Concurs Internacional de Guitarra, celebrat a Palma, de popularitat mundial marcat i apadrinat ni més ni menys que per la figura d’Andrés Segovia. Que tal eminència musical donés el seu nom al concurs li va atorgar a aquest una gran popularitat a escala mundial. Fet que es va traduir en la participació al concurs de guitarristes provinents de països d’arreu del món. Des del Japó fins al Canadà, passant per quasi tots els països europeus i gran part de Sud-amèrica.
