[eng] Constructed languages can be used in the teaching of linguistics at different levels: by
using sets of examples producing coherent behaviours harder to find among natural languages, by
teaching them openly, especially those as toki pona with a small lexical inventory, or by promoting
the activity of conlanging. A method is explained in this paper by which 5-student teams construct a
language. Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Dictionary and Typology are the specific areas of
linguistics addressed by the activity, while teamwork, specific research, and software application to
the field of study are also worked on. The propaedeutical function of learning a constructed
language as Esperanto has been repeatedly proposed to improve the acquisition of extra languages.
Working with constructed languages in class in a university course on linguistics is proposed as a
propaedeutical activity for the learning of concepts in the domain of general grammar. Similar
experiences in lower academic levels are cited.
