dc.description.abstract [eng] Introduction: Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent metabolic diseases worldwide and is responsible for a large number of complications. There are many factors that increase the risk of presenting this pathology. Objectives: The aim was to assess the influence of sociodemographic variables and healthy habits on the values of different risk scales for type 2 diabetes. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study in 386924 Spanish workers. We assessed how different sociodemographic variables (age, sex, social class and level of education) and healthy habits (physical exercise, Mediterranean diet and smoking) influence the level of risk of presenting type 2 diabetes by applying different scales. Results. All the sociodemographic variables and healthy habits analyzed in this study will influence the values of the type 2 diabetes risk scales. Those that show the greatest influence are physical activity, Mediterranean diet, and age. Conclusions: The profile of a person at high risk of developing diabetes according to the different scales is an elderly male, with a low socioeconomic level, sedentary, with low adherence to the Mediterranean diet and a smoker.
